Arnold married first wife unknown, and his 2nd wife was Sarah Johnson. It is assumed all his children were from the first wife.

Arnold died in  Heltonville, Indiana. He is buried in Gilgal cemetery

Michael was born in Lawrence County, Indiana.

Lewsis moved away to Chicago as is indicated by the following news item from the front page of the Bloomington Republican Progress, 4 Jan 1893:

Lewis Helton, who holds a position in a Chicago railroad office, spent Christmas with his mother in this city.
He soon moved on to Michigan City, Indiana, according to this note on the front page of the Republican Progress for 5 April 1893:

Lewis Helton has been sent from the Monon freight office at Chicago to Michigan City, where he has been given a better position.

Lewis died of Typhoid fever while visiting Payette, Idaho

Lewis is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, in Bloomington, Indiana

Origin of the Helton name

The family of Hylton - Helton - Hilton originates from Monkwearmouth on the north bank of the River Wear in North East England, where Hylton Castle still stands.

My Father

Carter Benson Helton        5 Dec 1900 - 16 Dec 1960

My dad was born in West Lafayette, Indiana.

   



His dad died when Carter was 5 years old. My dad learned early about hard work. His first job was being a paper boy.

He was to young to serve in WWI and to old for WWII.

Dad went to the University of Indiana, but due to high cost transferred to Butler University.

Dad played football for the Bulldogs from 1922 to 1925

My dad lived through the Great Depression.

I remember he was in the printing business in Indiana, before moving to Dayton, Ohio.

In Dayton he was one of the the founders of - Kircher, Helton & Collect Advertising Agency.


My parents started going to Cape Cod, Massachusetts when I was very young. We loved the summer weather at Cape Cod and the water for racing sailboats and water skiing. We rented in West Yarmouth for 11 years, then we moved to West Hyannisport.

My dad died on December 16, 1960. He was aboard the TWA airplane that crashed along with the United flight over New York City. He was coming to Boston to help mom bring me home from the hospital. I had TB.
