My dad was born in West Lafayette, Indiana.
His dad died when Carter was 5 years old. My dad learned early about hard work. His first job was being a paper boy.
He was to young to serve in WWI and to old for WWII.
Dad went to the University of Indiana, but due to high cost transferred to Butler University.

My dad lived through the Great Depression.
I remember he was in the printing business in Indiana, before moving to Dayton, Ohio.
In Dayton he was one of the the founders of - Kircher, Helton & Collect Advertising Agency.
My parents started going to Cape Cod, Massachusetts when I was very young. We loved the summer weather at Cape Cod and the water for racing sailboats and water skiing. We rented in West Yarmouth for 11 years, then we moved to West Hyannisport.
My dad died on December 16, 1960. He was aboard the TWA airplane that crashed along with the United flight over New York City. He was coming to Boston to help mom bring me home from the hospital. I had TB.

My dad is buried at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in Dayton, Montgomery, Ohio
My dad married Harriet Eaton Adams on 14 Jun 1930, in Brooklyn, Morgan, Indiana.
